Bobby Finds a Special Kind of Home
When Bobby, a proud 8-year-old Shepherd mix, was found under a parked car in Puerto Rico, he was in very poor shape. "He was all ribs and hipbones," his rescuer wrote, "and his head was swollen from a blood clot that required emergency surgery." Priscilla, a woman with a huge heart, nursed Bobby back to health and fell in love with his sweet personality, but couldn't keep Bobby as a pet. Reluctantly, she sent him packing for Northeast Animal Shelter – with a note. "With pain in our souls, we send him to you... But, we are confident that he will not only be adopted but rather taken by people who will give him so much love and respect." Read more.
Finding each other: April and Mona
April, a beautiful white cat with golden eyes, had been raised by the same couple since she was a kitten. But, when their home remodeling began, the noise and confusion frightened April and she attacked the other cats who shared her home. Trusting our no-kill policy, the couple thought it best that April live in a more serene environment.

For a pet coming from a familiar home, the disruption can be a traumatic event. We tried our best, but poor April was unhappy living by herself at the Shelter. Then Mona paid a visit. Read more.

Update: A successful first surgery for Mickey
Last month we wrote to you about Mickey, a sweet 9-month-old poodle mix crippled by two broken legs that healed poorly. He couldn't walk without pain and needed two expensive operations. Our generous supporters helped us pay for his medical care. His first surgery was successful, but it was more difficult than expected. Mickey will need to wait 2 to 3 months before having surgery on his other leg. He is now in foster care, and we are hopeful that we may have already found him an adoptive family!

If you made a gift in response to our email about Mickey, or even sent us an email with good wishes, we cannot thank you enough for your compassionate support.
