About the Shelter
Ear Mites

Ear mites are microscopic parasites that are contagious to other pets but not people. They are microscopic so you will not see them marching across your coffee table. Ear mites chew on the surface of the ear canal, which causes itching, and leads to infection. They leave a discharge inside the ear, which looks, like coffee grounds. Your pet may scratch his ears or shake his head. Consult your veterinarian for treatment options.
