After dropping off puppies and dogs at our Shelter, the van operated by our normal transport company hits a deer in Connecticut. Luckily there are no pets inside, but the van needs extensive repairs.

We inform the shelter that we work with in Alabama about the problem, and that our next scheduled pickup will be delayed indefinitely. They say they are getting in many puppies, and will have to euthanize them if we can’t take them.

We are hoping the repairs won’t take long, but it is not looking good.

The Alabama shelter says 74 puppies need immediate rescuing… or they will be put to sleep. With our normal transport van in the shop for repairs, we don’t know what to do. We know we have to find a way to save all these puppies, so we ask our friends for donations to help pay the additional transportation cost. Our donors respond with generous gifts, and the rescue begins taking shape.

We tell the Alabama shelter we are raising money to send a van. That’s when they let us know that the emergency is growing worse by the day. People are driving up in pick-up trucks and dropping off boxes full of puppies. They now have more than 100 puppies who need rescuing.

We shouldn’t have worried. The response is immediate. Generous donations start coming in.

We have raised enough money, and rescue arrangements are well underway. We are now sending enough vans to rescue every single puppy! The first puppies will be arriving in two days.

The first van picked up 40 small puppies and 5 adult dogs in Alabama and are on the road to Salem, MA.

The rescue drivers drove all night, and arrived at our Shelter this morning. The puppies, and the drivers too, are receiving a warm greeting.

Rescue van #2 has arrived. We have a lot of very happy puppies. The Shelter has been mobbed with families wanting to adopt.
Thank you for saving these puppies’ lives!
