The compassion that founded Northeast Animal Shelter in 1976 has now evolved into a state-of-the-art facility that sets the standard for all shelters across America.
Our modern building on Highland Avenue allows Northeast Animal Shelter to continue our mission: rescuing homeless dogs across America and local homeless cats for many years to come.
Our expanded facilities includes:
- Dog and cat visiting areas
- Expanded surgical quite and medical isolation areas
- Kitten and puppy adoption area
- Dog runs and exercise areas
- Dog and cat cage-less living space
- Dedicated training room
- Humane Education/Community Resource Room
Of course, our larger space means we can accommodate more animals than ever before. While we're very proud that we have rescued over 140,000 animals, we must save even more. Our new home allows us to do just that!
In addition to placing many more cats and dogs with loving families, we are also now able to expand our outreach into the community. We are developing multiple community outreach programs that include a community pet food bank, public education and training classes, and an expansive humane education initiative. This will help stop homelessness before it starts by teaching the next generations the importance of kindness towards animals.
You Can Become Involved
We would be thrilled and honored to have the names of our closest friends and supporters prominently displayed in our shelter. We have a variety of space-naming opportunities so that you or someone you know can become involved in this project. Special gifts may be paid over a period of up to five years. We hope that you will become involved in this exciting endeavor and help us to make this long-held dream a reality.
