Five Puppies Find Loving Homes
When the phone rings at Northeast Animal Shelter, we never know what to expect. Some days bring special challenges – like the day we answered a call from one of our Saving Pets Across America rescue groups in Nebraska.

They told us they had just rescued five puppies from a heartbreaking hoarding situation. Like most dogs coming from hoarders, these puppies were underfed and neglected. We also knew the pups would be afraid and have to learn how to react when offered love and affection.

A Second Chance for Cheddar
We will never forget the day an older woman walked through our doors with a brown and white Tabby in her arms. The lady couldn't stop crying.

She explained she had Cheddar for eleven years, and they were best friends. The woman never had much money, she said, but lately she’d become desperate and would soon have to move in with family – and Cheddar couldn't come.

Forever Friends
Barbara Stackpole was an artist and a member of her local Art Association, Garden Club and Arts & Crafts Society. Barbara was an intelligent, funny, talented, caring woman. We were saddened by her recent passing at the age of 96. Because Barbara loved animals and wanted her generosity to continue after her death, she included Northeast Animal Shelter in her estate plans.

If, like Barbara, you would like to ensure that your love of animals lives on through a bequest, please consider joining our Forever Friends Legacy Society.
