Bennie the Bengal Cat has Plenty to Say
One cold morning last January, we discovered a box at the front door of the Shelter. We could hear what was inside before we could see – a very talkative cat! Inside the box was Bennie, a large and very sick Bengal cat. Bennie had been left by his previous owner, who could no longer take care of him. Bennie was shivering and ill... but even so, we knew he had a big personality and lots of love (and conversation!) in him. Bennie is lucky he was brought to the Shelter. Just ask him why!

Extreme Makeover Edition: Sambuca the Dog
When a woman walked through our doors with something in her arms, it was hard to believe she was holding a dog – all we could see was a matted mess of gray fur. Even the pup's eyes were obscured by the thick fringe of his dirty coat. The woman told us she found him tied to a pole at a bus stop – and then quickly left the Shelter. Jackelyn's Loving Legacy
Jackelyn Larmay had many loves and interests. She treasured time with her family and friends, worked at the same company for 42 years, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed cribbage, crossword puzzles and keeping up to date with current events. Jackelyn's faithful companion was her beloved cat, Rascal. We were honored when Jackelyn's family visited the Shelter and presented us with a donation from her estate.

Thousands of homeless pets will be rescued and taken care of thanks to her bequest. Learn more about including Northeast Animal Shelter in your will.
