Our family adopted Sammy this past November, a couple of months after the passing of our previous cat, and he has been the love of our life ever since! It didn’t take him long to get adjusted to our home. He’s been everywhere from hiding in the basket full of laundry to falling asleep under the Christmas tree. He loves to play and is a very curious little kitten. He is also very sweet and gentle, we could not have asked for a better kitty! We are so glad we got to adopt him from the Northeast Animal Shelter and add a member to our family!
What's the Scoop?
We brought 6-month old Pepe (formerly “Rocky”) home in June 2013, a few months after we lost our first pet. Pepe helped us heal and move forward with his love, affection and kindness. He keeps us active, disciplined and grounded every day – precisely the stuff we would otherwise miss out on. Being a Pointer, taking him to the beach is some experience! – the sea gulls would tell you that better! 😉 Pepe is also getting used to riding the T( between Alewife & Park Street stations) in weekends – much to the amusement of fellow commuters. Thanks to NEAS for rescuing a dog like Pepe … and for giving us the chance to save a life.
We came in on a cold day and found our perfect best friend formally known as “Hunter.” We named him Gilmore Ray ( Ray after the man at the shelter who let us take him home). He is the perfect pup! He makes our family complete! My son and other dog adore him! So glad he found his forever home with us!
Thanks so much for helping me adopt Riley (formerly Aurora). She is a very sweet soul. She loves to play, and loves to be petted. She sleeps with me every night and loves it when we “hold hands.” I can’t wait to come home to her at night. She has really changed my life!
These two puppies have been a welcome addition to our busy home, and are keeping us all on our toes! This picture captured a rare moment when they were both still for more than a few seconds, tuckered out after a busy day. Reagan is full of spunk, and sometimes is a little bossy with her sister Riley, but she loves her snuggles and is always happy to settle down for a good petting. Riley is a bundle of energy and hardly sits still, except when she is outside experiencing new sites and noises – the sound of a bird, plane, or passing car can stop her in her tracks!
These 2 pups are getting tons of attention… our 3 kids love playing with them, and we have had many visitors since word got out that Reagan and Riley had arrived! Our cat Lucy is beginning to get courageous enough to take a closer look – she is still getting used to the energy level. Thanks so much for everything – we are so happy with our new girls!
We adopted Gracie (formally Sandy) on Dec. 1 after multiple trips to the shelter to find the perfect dog. We had no plans to adopt a puppy but from the moment we met Gracie, we knew she was perfect for us. She’s a truly loving dog full of kisses! We were told she would be a big dog and 6 weeks later she is already 40 pounds and only 16 weeks old!! She is a complete joy and I am so glad that the shelter was patient with us as we kept coming back to find the right dog for us.
Just an update…We wanted to thank you all for the wonderful experience we had in adopting Finley (Sneezy) from your shelter….We had waited to adopt, after losing our dog after 16 years. As with any loss of a pet, who is really part of your family, it takes time… We were ready to open our hearts and home to another dog and here we are…Starting again…He is such a love…forgot how energetic and time consuming training a puppy can be, but know and have seen just how quickly they learn and just how rewarding it is for us, and Fin. He doubled his size in height and length in four weeks, and has settled right in…Took less than a week for him to sleep all night in his crate. He made fast friends with our cat Twyla. He loves the snow…long walks, watching TV, too funny…and hates the word no…but what kid doesn’t…Truth be told , we are all learning here. Every dog, every cat is different, but we are all very thankful to have Finley as part of our family….Thanks again!
We adopted Mimi on Dec 7, 2013. Mimi has adjusted happily in our home. We adore her, and love every moment with her. Mimi started puppy class last week and has been very easy to train. We can not thank the loving volunteers at Northeast Animal Shelter enough, adopting our love bug was a wonderful experience. We’ve recommended the shelter to everyone who asks about Mimi…and to anyone looking to adopt.
So after being divorced for 7 years and coming home to nothing else breathing in my home but me, I knew it was time for a companion. My parents suggested a cat, but never owning one before I was a little leery, even though they have always had cats and I always enjoyed them. My niece Christina is a volunteer at the NEAS, so one day when my Dad dropped her off there he went in to take a look at the cats. He called me immediately when he saw Minky (aka Slim Shady)…all 20 pounds of him! I adopted him on my birthday and he is the best present I could have ever asked for! Not only does he follow me everywhere but OMG can he talk! Can’t imagine not having him as my shadow!
We adopted Casey last February and we couldn’t be happier! He is such a love! He brings joy to each one of us daily! We are so grateful for NEAS and our little bundle of joy we found there!
